Giftedness Conference in Amsterdam
On Wednesday, 25 March, the Amsterdam-Diemen primary and secondary education networks, together with the Municipality of Amsterdam, organized their annual giftedness conference at the Casa Hotel in Amsterdam.
Lineke van Tricht held two sessions on culturally sensitive teaching, in which participants interviewed each other to become aware of their perceptions of their students and to uncover any unconscious biases. These sessions were intimate for the participants, but in a positive way. A particularly valuable outcome was that two participants from very different backgrounds discovered through their conversation that, despite their differences, they also had a great deal in common.
At the end of the day, a plenary session was held in which Lineke, together with keynote speaker Sabine Sypré and a group of students, answered questions submitted by participants throughout the day via question cards provided by the organizers.
Meanwhile, Birgit Broekhoven and Suzanne Oskam represented Bureau Talent at the information market, where they had inspiring encounters and engaged in meaningful conversations.
Conferences like this offer a wonderful opportunity for connection, and collaboration is ultimately essential for advocating for the interests of cognitively talented students.
